Oscar-winning actress Linda Hunt was reportedly hospitalized on Monday after being involved in a car accident.

The NCIS: Los Angeles star was reportedly driving a black BMW in Hollywood on Monday when she tried to make a left turn, and eyewitnesses have told TMZ.com that the 73-year-old struck a sedan before colliding with a Honda sports utility vehicle (SUV).

In pictures obtained by the website, Hunt, who was reportedly shaken by the incident, could be seen resting on a garden chair on the sidewalk as emergency services responded to the accident.

Paramedics reportedly evaluated the actress while she was seated and they decided she needed to go to the hospital. A witness said the other drivers sustained minor injuries, and a law enforcement source confirmed only one person involved in the accident had been hospitalised.

The cause of the accident is currently being investigated.

Hunt won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for playing Billy Kwan in 1982 movie The Year of Living Dangerously, her second film role, making her the first person to win an Oscar portraying a character of the opposite sex.

She also voiced Grandmother Willow in the Pocahontas animated films and Lady Proxima in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
