Middle school teacher accused of tying up, sexually assaulting girl, 13
A Wisconsin middle school teacher has been accused of typing up and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl he met online.
On Tuesday, fifty-six-year-old Peter Schmidt waived his right for a preliminary trial after he was arrested and charged last month with first-degree sexual assault on a minor.
According to the Wausau Daily Herald, a 13-year-old girl told cops she was sexually assaulted by the now former science teacher at D.C. Everest Middle School in 2016. Arrest documents obtained by the Daily Herald noted Schmidt allegedly started chatting with the girl on social media platforms Whisper and Snapchat.
Schmidt reportedly posed as a 22-year-old man named “Kyle” and had talked to the girl about having sex with her, despite knowing she was underage. He also allegedly asked the girl for nude photos.
In August 2016, the girl allegedly visited Schmidt’s Mosinee, Wis. home. While there, cops say Schmidt forcibly kissed the girl, then tied her hands to bedposts and sexually assaulted her.
The arrest document noted Schmidt told the teen not to talk about the incident. Meanwhile, he continued to harass the girl on social media, which prompted her to block him.
WSAW reported once cops learned of the allegations, a search warranted was conducted on Schmidt’s home last month. They found about 45 grams of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia.
