Samantha Markle hits back after Scotland Yard reportedly places her on watch list
Samantha Markle, the half-sister of Meghan, the Duchess Of Sussex, has hit back after it was reported she’s been placed on Scotland Yard’s ‘Fixated Persons’ watch list.
Britain’s The Sunday Times newspaper first broke the news that the Duchess’ personal protection officers had spoken to officers from the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre (FTAC) about Samantha, who also goes by the name Samantha Grant. Following several discussions, Samantha is understood to have been placed on the watch list – which means that police and royal security will keep an eye out for her if she should suddenly turn up at Kensington Palace. The FTAC’s website lists their purpose as “assessing and managing the risks from lone individuals who harass, stalk or threaten public figures”.
Samantha has made headlines worldwide for her comments about her estranged sibling and her treatment of their father Thomas Markle, and turned up invited at the London residence Meghan shares with her husband Prince Harry in October.
“Someone like Samantha presents a risk rather than a threat,” a Scotland Yard source told the publication. “She is not committing criminal offences, but she is causing concerns for the royal family. Samantha could make a scene and create headlines with her actions – and let’s face it, she’s kind of already done that.”
Samantha, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and lives in Florida, took to Twitter to respond to the report, writing: “This is ridiculous as I’m in an electric wheelchair and I live on a different continent LOL (laugh out loud) and advocating for doing the right thing by our dad is hardly fixation. Stop your lying nonsense or be sued.”
She later added: “Yeah this is ridiculous you don’t silence somebody by making an example out of them and sensationalizing circumstances by disparaging them.
“Sorry you don’t infringe on freedom of speech especially when I talk about my life.”
