‘WHY DON’T YOU DIE?’: Aussie man’s spider scare prompts full-scale cop response
An Australian man’s passionate attempt to kill an eight-legged enemy reportedly prompted a full-scale police presence Wednesday morning.
According to The Guardian Australia, an unnamed resident in Perth had reportedly heard a screaming toddler and a man repeatedly shouting “why don’t you die?” The resident soon called 0-0-0 (Australia’s emergency digits), prompting multiple units from the Wanneroo Police department to show up at the unnamed man’s home.
According to a police log of the incident, cops arrived to find a man “trying to kill a spider.” Embarrassed, the man – who has a giant fear of arachnids – apologized for the incident.
“Police spoke with all parties who advised that (the) husband had only been trying to kill a spider (has serious fear of spiders). (He) apologized for inconvenience to police,” the log stated.
“No injuries sighted (except to spider).”
Wanneroo Police tweeted about the incident before deleting it, citing confidential internal police communications, “typos in it, things like that” as reasons, the Telegraph reported.
The Telegraph reported a similar incident happened in 2015 in Sydney when cops found a man screaming “I’m going to kill you, you’re dead” at a spider located in his dwelling.
